Seamless steel pipes are usually packaged and shipped in bundles, wrapped in protective wrapping such as plastic or burlap, and secured with steel bands or straps. Each bundle contains steel pipes of the same diameter and length, which are secured together to ensure safe delivery. Larger diameter pipes may also be packaged in wooden crates or pallets.
The bundles are placed on skids or pallets and strapped down. The straps are secured with metal clamps to the skids or pallets. The skids or pallets are then loaded onto a truck, railcar, or container for shipping. The truck or railcar is equipped with protective covering to protect the steel pipes during transportation.
