Carbon steel plate can be referred to as plain carbon steel or just carbon steel. It contains elements of carbon, silicon, manganese, sulfur, phosphorus, and other elements. The higher the carbon content, the better the hardness and stength. However, the lower the plasticity.
Carbon steel plate is divided into four classes based on the carbon content by weight:from 0.05 to 0.25%, 0.3 to 0.5%, 0.6 to 1.0% and 1.25 to 2.0%. Low carbon steel has balanced ductility and strength but low wear resistance; medium carbon steel has balanced ductiltiy and strength with good wear resistance; high carbon steel with 0.6 to 1.0% carbon content is strong and used for springs and high-strength wires; and ultra-high carbon steel with 1.25 to 2.0 carbon content is hard and tempered.
Carbon steel plate has a range of applications in buildings, ships, engineering machinery, bridges, mining machinery, coal mining, railway construction, highways, chemical plant construction, power stations, wind power generation, etc.
High strength: After quenching and tempering, carbon steel plates have high strength and hardness and can be used to manufacture parts with higher strength requirements.
Good plasticity: Carbon steel plates can not only be processed and manufactured through cold and hot rolling, but also can be processed by deep drawing, bending and other forming processes, and are widely used in the manufacturing of vehicles, trains and other transportation vehicles.
Excellent weldability: Carbon steel plates have good welding properties and can be welded into structures of any shape and length through different welding methods.
Corrosion resistance: Although carbon steel plates are not stainless steel, under normal use and storage, carbon steel plates have sufficient corrosion resistance, and their corrosion resistance can be improved through surface treatment and coating.
